Kirsten Skovmand-Wilson has been working in the mental health field since 1992. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida and her Master’s Degree in Community Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College. In 2014, she received her Doctor of Philosophy in Human Services with a focus in Counseling. Dr. Skovmand-Wilson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.  

Dr. Skovmand-Wilson uses a solution-focused approach to therapy that incorporates her training in behavior analysis and mental health counseling. She meets the client where they are and assists them to gain a good understanding into what they want to achieve in their therapy journey towards healing. She has varied multicultural experience and is fluent in Spanish.

Janet E. Shipley has been working as a Clinical Therapist since 1996. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Western Carolina University. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Qualified Supervisor. Janet E. Shipley has joined our practice in Leesburg after working in varied settings including outpatient agencies, inpatient settings, and within the public school system. Her background has equipped her to meet the client where they are in their personal journey toward emotional stability and balance, while also helping them navigate and advocate for their needs in the larger community.


Mrs. Shipley is primarily solution-focused in approach; however, employs an eclectic array of clinical techniques to work with each client’s concerns whether in individual, family, couples or group counseling. She has experience working with children, teens, and adults with a wide array of emotional, cognitive and behavioral concerns. Believing the therapeutic relationship should be supportive, goal-directed, and collaborative in nature; she uses each client’s unique personal strengths, while also building new skills that fit each client’s life circumstances and goals for growth. She strives to create a safe environment for each client to explore concerns, increase stability, improve relationships, encourage growth and find balance. She is currently accepting new clients.
